How Inclusion Studio's learner support software works: Understand, Agree, Deliver, Review

How Inclusion Studio's learner support software works in four stages, from hearing the learner to reviewing impact, and what is in the prototype today.

Updated
In short

Inclusion Studio follows one journey: Understand what helps, Agree a plan with the learner, Deliver and record support, then Review whether it worked. A review view is in the prototype; most of the journey is in development.

Inclusion Studio is built around one idea: support works when you hear the learner, agree something specific, do it, and check. This page walks through the journey, shows who does what and is clear about what you can try today.

How does learner support software work in Inclusion Studio?

Four stages: Understand, Agree, Deliver and Review. They repeat. Review leads back to understanding, because what helps changes.

Understand: what helps this learner?

A learner, or someone on their behalf, asks for support. Staff capture what the learner says in their own words. A person looks at the request and decides the next step, and records why.

Features: support requests, learner voice and triage. Status: voice display is in the prototype; requests and triage are in development.

Agree: what will we do together?

Staff and learner draft a support plan from the learner’s words. Each action has a named owner and timing. The learner sees the plan. If they disagree with anything, or staff cannot offer it, that is recorded with the reason. For apprentices, workplace adjustments are shared with the employer in a narrow view.

Features: support plans and employer collaboration. Status: a plan view is in the prototype; the rest is in development.

Deliver: did it happen?

Each agreed action becomes something staff can record as delivered, partly delivered or missed. If support is missed, the owner records why and what will be done, and the learner is told. Documents sit in private storage with controlled access.

Features: delivery tracking, missed support recovery and documents. Status: delivered summaries appear in the prototype; the rest is in development.

Review: did it help?

Before a review, the learner is asked whether support is helping. Staff and learner decide to keep, change or stop each action and set the next review date. A controlled evidence export can then show what was agreed, delivered, missed, recovered and reviewed.

Features: reviews, AI drafts, insights and evidence export. Status: the review form, sample draft and illustrative insights are in the prototype; the evidence export is in development.

Who does what?

PersonRole in the journey
LearnerSays what helps, sees and responds to the plan, gives feedback
Inclusion leadTriage, plans, oversight of delivery and reviews
Tutor or assessorDelivers support, records it, takes part in reviews
Apprenticeship employer contactDelivers workplace adjustments and records their actions
Organisation adminManages accounts and settings

Every view is limited by permissions and roles, enforced on the server. Employers never see a learner’s full history.

Where does AI fit?

Optionally, and only as a labelled draft that a person reviews. The prototype uses a fixed sample draft and sends nothing to any AI service. The whole journey works without AI. See AI drafts and our AI principles.

What can you try today?

The clickable prototype, with fictional learners, lets you:

  • See a tutor’s priorities for today or this week, and search learners.
  • Open a learner’s summary, plan and evidence behind a sample draft.
  • Complete and save a review, and watch the status and next action update.
  • View illustrative insights and change larger text and reduced motion settings.

Data stays in memory and resets on refresh. There is no login, database or access control. It must not hold real learner information.

What is in development?

The production application is being built with synthetic data, starting with a vertical slice that runs from request through triage, plan, staff action, delivery and recovery, learner feedback, review and evidence export. See the roadmap.

How can I take part?

Visit the pilot page if you work in an England FE college or apprenticeship provider. See the platform overview for every capability and its status, and why Inclusion Studio for the reasoning. Common questions are answered in the FAQ.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Inclusion Studio support journey?

Understand, Agree, Deliver and Review. Hear what helps in the learner's words, agree a plan the learner has seen, record delivered and missed support, then ask whether it helped and keep, change or stop it.

Which parts can I try today?

The prototype lets you view fictional learners, plans and reviews, save a review and see a sample AI draft. The rest of the journey is in development.

Do I need AI to use it?

No. The full journey is designed to work without AI. AI is optional, labelled and reviewed by a person.

Who sees what?

Permissions are enforced on the server by organisation, relationship and field. Employer contacts see only workplace adjustments and their own actions.
